Mornin' Terri:  Must redirect you question back onto your lap !!  It is recommended to have one, BUT, as you well realize each & everyone of us have different control methods & above all different burn rates of calories / carbs due to natural functions & or activity. One must go from past records to determine whether a kit is worth the expense.  I personally keep two on hand at all times, since I'm a "frequent flyer" of the glucagon kit club.  (believe I now partially own that company)
I've experienced hypos' for as long as I can remember, recall waking up with a doctor by my bedside years ago on the farm .......  YES   back when doctors made house calls.  (hint .....  giving my age away)  In my case some of the hypo episodes where explanatory while many can't be.  Spoke with my endo about some of these whilst showing records of insulin / carbs / activity etc  .....  could not be determined. Explanation from endo was  "well you're a diabetic" Unfortunately it is one of those cases where I can come home & talk to a brick wall & get more answers !!

So Terri, do me a small favor & talk to the closest brick wall to get your final answer.  LOL
