Hi Gang,
The Lantus is not going near as well as I wanted. I know it will take time to get things going well, but honestly I hope that the new pump arrives sooner than later.
I also need to add that my allergies and RA went balistic at the same time, so I am overwhelmed with steroids for both and poor diabetes control. I can't help but think they are all related in some way, as my insulin useage went way up all of a sudden also. I am not eating more, but the steroids are making diabetes too hard to control with the Lantus. I seem to be high most of the time and low at other times.
My morning readings are much higher than normal and I am going to bed at about 140 to 150 and getting up at about 188 to 297. (I usually get up at 85 to 140. I also know it will take a while to work this out and I am splitting the dose 50/50 morning and night and I am sure I will need to make the nightime dose higher.
I have chatted with my CDE, which is on a pump and not really in tune with Lantus (I don't want to even try to get used to the stuff) I feel Lantus is a total pain in the butt and I am already sick of doing correction shots of Novolog. it is so much easier to press a few buttons and not have to search for a place that is not sore already, from the multiple shots!

Did I tell you all I miss my pump? Did I further tell you, I hate doing all the shots and dealing with allergies and steroids? The real bad news is I am going to have to go to my rheumy for a steroid shot, to stop a RA flare-up, which is making life very tuff for my wrists/fingers/ankles and toes right now! This will basically render insulin useless for a week or so! It is not good timing at all!

I do hope all of you are doing ok and our USA friends are ready for the Thanksgivings time coming right up! (November 22nd this year) I had turkey dinner on Monday and will have a ham dinner tomorrow!
Enjoy and try not to stuff yourselves like the bird!
