Awful, Suz.  "HIGH" usually means 600 or over on most meters.

Might I suggest going back to the post where we shared how to increase your basal rates...and ignore what your doctor said.  Although it may be impossible to get them down now, but an increase in the basal rate would help tremendously.

And if you do increase the basal rate, don't give yourself corrections for at least 4-6 hours, testing every couple of hours, so you can see if the increased basal rate is helping.

In the future, if you ever go on prednisone, increase your basal rate immediately to about 125-130%.  Then you can increase it more if your bg's are going up.  It's near impossible to get them down once you're in a prednisone high.

So sorry you're going through this.  Do keep checking for ketones and, if you start showing more than mild ketones, go to the hospital!  But hopefully you won't have to do that.

Prednisone...works great for arthritis flare-ups, asthma flare-ups, other auto-immune types of flare-ups; raises hell with diabetes control.
