Wayne, thank you very much what you had discussed. I was not over thrilled in getting this device but I was out-weighed by the company. Maybe it is great for others but not for me.
It is my understanding they are continuously making improvements by adding more bells and whistles. I tried not to get tangled into their web of selling, but when your device no longer has warranty what do you do. More and more I thought about it the answer was right there. If I decided to not move forward, my pump dies the following week than I am in trouble.
Today, I decided this CGM pulled the last straw on the camel's back. Goes off at 3:00 a.m., keep me awake most of the time saying I am dropping, than the machine shuts down from delivering insulin. I thought I cancelled the entire situation before I fell back to sleep for 1/2 hour. When I woke up again my blood sugar was now at 240 when it was an hour ago 139. Thanks to the CGM shutting the machine down.
After this I said enough of CGM. How can a company tell me that it is normal to be off by 20 points. The theory behind the 20 points is like being on a roller coaster. Blood sugar in front cart and the CGM is two cars behind. If they said by a few points that is acceptable. My blood sugar has been so out of whack since yesterday due to lack of sleep.
Reports from the CGM may be magnificent but not when it puts a person's life in danger.
So, if any of you are saying to yourself Medicare won't allow me to go on the CGM---think twice. Sometimes we all want better for ourselves but it can be more of an issue at the end. Just be thankful for what you have, or on, and able to still function.
