Wow, Suz...that's actually great news! Could be a very simple fix.

I know a lot of docs want to use ACE inhibitors as the first line of BP treatment for diabetics because they also preserve kidney function, but I've known so many people who have the cough problem, and for many it doesn't go away.

Another BP medication that is also thought to have some kidney-protecting qualities is ARB's (Angiotensin receptor blockers), although I'm not sure the kidney link is as strong with the ARB's.
