For several months now I have thought my asthma was getting worse. I've had it in control for at least 15 years, but have
begun coughing day and night. In August a physician assistant I saw put me on a Serevent Disk, and I also continued using my other inhalers. He referred me
for a pulmonary function test, which I took today.
After the test, I had a long discussion with the doctor in that department at Kaiser Permanente. After asking me many questions, and telling me the function test and my lungs look good, he told me that my cough may be due in fact to the blood pressure/ace inhibitor that I was placed on a few months ago because of the diabetes!
So ... Lisinipril may be the culprit! He said to discontinue it immediately, start on a generic form of Cozaar, and Email him in a week to let him know if the cough has gone! He will follow through with my care on this issue.
Wow, what a great relief to know that my cough may be due to a reaction to a pill and not that my asthma is progressing!
