Hi all! I have been in lurker mode for quite awhile, but I am super frustrated and need a place to vent where people know what I am talking about! LOL!
In an effort to get healthy, improve bg's, be strong, all that great stuff...I started jogging/running. I feel so good after I am done, I am loving it. During workouts, my bg drops as I would expect it to, I correct with Dex4 tabs as needed, if needed. I go for about 30 minutes, maybe 40 on a good day. But there's warm up and cool down time too, so say 25-30 minutes of hard work.
In the past whenever I started exercising (albeit not as strenuously, I suppose), my morning bg's fell into place beautifully, and I had to reduce long acting insulin.
This time, I see no effect on my morning bg's, they are almost always in the 8-12 mmol/l range.
Am I working out too hard? Should I just up my insulin? That feels like a failure (mind set, I know).
I have to admit I have read ALOT online about what happens during exercise over the past week, and I know I am not the only diabetic who experiences this. But I don't know what to do.
I am seeing my endo the 11th of Aug, and will certainly ask her advice, but I can't get in any sooner.
I am so frustrated by this...angry. I feel like diabetes is once again, messing up something I want to do....before I was afraid to run because of lows...now I am worried about highs.
If you have read this far....thanks. Sorry for the rant...I just needed to get it off my chest.
Anyone here ever been in this boat, what did you do?
thanks :) Heidi
