Hi folks,
I have the 530G Medtronic pump with the Elite CSG. I began my training on the CSG this past Saturday. Not sure if this thing is really for me. I would appreciate any feedback you can give me.
The first night it kept buzzing to let me know I am dropping. Apparently the technician set me up with the CSG to go off once I reach 90 that I will be bottoming out. The darn thing kept going off the entire night not to mention the next day as I was shopping. By Monday I put a few calls in to get to the bottom of this nonsense. I thought I need my beauty sleep not be kept awake all night because this machine is buzzing or vibrating to wake me up. On Monday the technician called to see how I am doing with this CSG. She helped me to lower the number so when the blood glucose reading reaches a low I can act on it. That is fine but now there seems to be another issue. Personally I like when the pump is suspended when the blood sugar does go low, but I do not like a 20 differential reading between the CSG and what I am taking from a finger stick. If it was by a couple of points than it would be acceptable but not 20 points. Something is wrong. Tonight I put a call into the tech to call me back to find out what is wrong.
I spoke to my Endo and she said I should contact the company. From my research it is suppose to act like an artificial pancreas. As each day goes by there are too many unanswered questions with this CSG as I continue to live with this contraption. I never realized how one can be hooked up to these different medical items and yet download yourself to the computer to get your readings.
