Hi Gang,
Just want to know if any of you know about celiac lab test results?
I have been having tummy issues and was tested for Celiac disease. Doctor ordered a Celiac panel and the results came back, but I am confused on what they mean. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Lab results:
| Tissue Transglutaminase, IgA | <4.0 (Negative) U/mL | <1.2 |
| Tissue Transglutaminase, IgG | <6.0 (Negative) U/mL | 43.6 |
| Interpretation: Positive (>9.0) (Does this mean I have Celiac?) | ||
| Endomysial IgA | Negative | Negative |
| (NOTE) Negative in normal individuals. May be negative in dermatitis herpatiformis or celiac disease patients adhering to a gluten free diet. -------------------ADDITIONAL INFORMATION------------------- Laboratory developed test. | ||
| Gliadin IgG | <20.0 (Negative) U | <10.0 |
| Gliadin IgA | <20.0 (Negative) U | <10.0 |
(NOTE) On Wednesday Nov. 4th I am having to have a colonoscopy and they are taking some kind of tissue sample to analyze (I think at the end of the small intestines) and will also be checking for cancer, as I am high risk with all the drugs I am taking to suppress my immune system, along with the pain I am having. If this is Celiac disease, it adds another autoimmune disease and give me a known 7 autoimmune diseases. Type 1 diabetes, Rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's, Raynaud's, Asthma, Allergies and Celiac. I am already allergic to shellfish, which precludes me of eating most sea foods. I can not really eat fruits, as they kill my diabetes (I do eat a tiny bit). Now, if I can not eat gluten too, I am really going to struggle with foods in general. Trying to teach this old dog new tricks, will be a challenge, to say the least! Please shed any light you may have on this. Thanks | ||
